First edition of 'Work on the Ring Road' newspaper through people's letterboxes

On Monday 4 June, approximately 350,000 information newspapers about Work on the Ring Road will be posted through the doors of residents in the Flemish and Brussels (part-)municipalities that are close to the Ring Road. In the newspaper you will find lots of additional information about life around, on and over the Brussels Ring Road, and the multimodal Working on the Ring Road programme, which De Werkvennootschap is carrying out. The most important milestones of Work on the Ring Road also feature prominently. At the back of the newspaper you will find an invitation for three new participation events in June, in Wemmel, Zaventem and Vilvoorde.

Cycling Managers have their say

The cycling managers of Brussels and Flemish Brabant talk about the cycle highways that De Werkvennootschap is going to construct in the near future. These are a good thing, according to the bike managers. All too often, the Ring Road still forms a barrier for cyclists. They assert that, if the road can be crossed more comfortably and safely, more people will cycle in the future.

Ringtrambus: first work

The Ringtrambus is also discussed. The first preparatory work for this line will begin in summer 2019. The Ringtrambus, as part of Brabantnet, is an important element of the Work on the Ring Road programme. The Express Tram (Sneltram) between Willebroek and Brussels North railway station, and the Airport Tram (Luchthaventram) between Brussels North and the airport, will also be implemented by De Werkvennootschap.

Milestones

In the middle of the newspaper, the reader will find all the milestones of the 'Work on the Ring Road' programme. In particular, the cycle highways and the Brabantnet will quickly improve the mobility and liveability of the whole area round the Ring Road in the coming years. There is also a clear explanation here of the procedures and processes that will be gone through.

Children's page

On the fantastic children's page, younger readers can discover the Ring Road animals: a diverse group of fauna found around the Ring Road... the brown frog, the grass snake and also the garden dormouse, which is sometimes called the 'fruit thief' thanks to its Zorro mask.
