Second edition of 'Work on the Ring Road' newspaper

03/12/2018

Some 360,000 inhabitants of the Flemish and Brussels (sub)municipalities around the Ring received the second edition of the 'Work on the Ring road' newspaper at the beginning of December. The newspaper featured reams of information about life in, around, on and about the Brussels Ring Road and the multimodal programme 'Work on the Ring Road' which will be realised by De Werkvennootschap.  Among other things, this edition reports on the Ring trambus, the study into the Ring East, what the follow-up was to all the input, and the planned discussion evenings in the spring of 2019.

Alternatives are being studied

Based on all the input collected and studied, a number of alternatives for redeveloping the Ring have been formulated. These alternatives will be further studied and elaborated in terms of technical feasibility. A full explanation is given on the front page of the newspaper.

Discussion evenings 2019

In the spring of 2019, De Werkvennootschap invited the population to an evening of discussions in their neighbourhood. A total of 20 municipalities along the Flemish periphery and in Brussels were involved. During the discussion evenings, studies of alternatives and variants were shared with the public. During the same period, an information kiosk also went around the municipalities in the periphery and Brussels.

Survey Ring East

In order to give form to the study on the future of the Ring Road in the east of Brussels, the opinion of the residents and users of the Ring East were surveyed. What problems they experienced, what they wanted. The short survey covered the opportunities and bottlenecks for all road users, enhancing the green space and improving the quality of life.
