Groot-Bijgaarden station

With more than 7,000 residents, Groot-Bijgaarden is the community with the largest population within the combined municipality of Dilbeek. At Groot-Bijgaarden station, there is a need for extra parking spaces as well as for additional bicycle parking spaces. The current users of the station and the commuters from the nearby municipalities will easily be able to combine different means of transport at the new Hoppin Point.

Together with the construction of the F2 cycle highway, we are taking care of the area around Groot-Bijgaarden station. This cycle highway runs from Ghent - via Melle, Wetteren and Aalst, among other places - to Brussels and passes several train stations. Thus, we optimise transfers from cycling to public transport along this route.

What will it look like?

• There will be more parking spaces, including disabled parking spaces.
• There will be charging points for electric cars.
• Car sharers will find Kiss&Rides and car-sharing parking spaces.
• At this Hoppin Point you will also find shared bicycles.
• There will be covered bicycle parking spaces, with space for bicycle lockers and charging points for e-bikes.
• There will also be a bicycle repair point where minor bicycle problems can be resolved.  

How do you get to this Hoppin Point?

• The station is served by two S-connections
• The region is directly connected to several Brussels areas by 1 metro line, 1 express tram and 3 bus lines.
• The F2 Ghent-Brussels cycle highway has not yet been fully completed. It will run along railway line 50 from Ghent via Aalst to the province of Flemish Brabant. The cycle highway connects with the F212 Asse-Brussels cycle highway via Sint-Agatha-Berchem and Ganshoren. The F2 meets the F209 (Brussels-Denderleeuw) at the border between Liedekerke, Affligem and Ternat.    

When will the Hoppin Point be ready?

From the autumn of 2022, you will be able to 'hop' between different modes of transport quickly and safely at the Groot-Bijgaarden station Hoppin Point.
