Work in Sint-Annalaan
The works on the Sint-Annalaan are part of the construction of the route of the Ring trambus. We will also construct new, safe bicycle paths and redesign the parking spaces. The redesign of the Sint-Annalaan runs from the roundabout on the Meeuwenlaan to just before the roundabout on the Romeinsesteenweg.
Phased approach to limit inconvenience
In order to limit the temporary inconvenience associated with these works, we will work in three phases. Work on the next phase will only commence upon full completion of the previous phase. We will provide diversions during each phase.

The refurbishment of the Sint-Annalaan will stretch from the roundabout at the Meeuwenlaan to just before the roundabout at the Romeinsesteenweg. Work will be carried out in three phases, during the course of which we will first put the separated sewerage system in place and then lay the new roads. The construction for the following phase will only begin when the previous is fully completed.
Phase 1 (completed)
The first phase goes from the roundabout at the Meeuwenlaan to just before the Ringlaan-Koningslosesteenweg-Strombeeksesteenweg intersection. This phase has already been completed.
Phase 2 (in progress)
Sint-Annalaan Phase 2 includes the intersection of Sint-Annalaan and the Ringlaan, Koningslosesteenweg and Strombeeksesteenweg and it stops just before the intersection with Bloemendallaan and Groendallaan. In order to limit inconvenience, the works at the intersection (Phase 2A) will be accelerated so it can be opened up to traffic sooner. As of January 12, this intersection will be open again to local traffic. Only the southern junction of Sint-Annalaan will remain closed until the summer (Phase 2B).
Mutsaertplaats Zone The Mutsaertplaats zone will also be renovated during Phase 2B. Work will start there on Monday, March 1, 2021 and end in June 2021, at the same time as Phase 2B. We will transform the zone into a partially car-free area with some twenty parking spaces, a covered bicycle parking facility and new bus stops. The current bus stops on the Mutsaardplein will disappear to make way for the parking lot. The new bus stops will be located just around the corner, in Kasteelstraat.
Phase 3 (from summer 2021)
In the third and final phase, we will renew the intersection of the Sint-Annalaan with the Bloemendallaan and Groendallaan (phase 3A) and the Sint-Annalaan up to the roundabout with the Romeinsesteenweg / Strombeeklinde (phase 3B). The Mutsaertplaats zone does not fall in this phase, but has already been redeveloped during phase 2. This is to offer extra options for the shops in the area. Phase 3 is planned from the summer and will last until the end of 2021. We will accelerate the intersection (phase 3A) and will be open for local traffic again in September. Naturally, the south side of the intersection will remain closed because we are still working here in the Sint-Annalaan (phase 3B).
